Mentone Elementary currently has two elementary counselors. Counselors support social emotional learning, and tiered intervention during the school day and the after school Expanded Learning Opportunity Program (ELOP).

Ms. Jen Yaghoubian
Jen Yaghoubian received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology at University of California, Santa Cruz. She proceeded to earn a Master’s Degree in Special Education and a Multiple Subject Credential and Mild-Moderate Education Specialist Credential from San Francisco State University. She earned a Master’s Degree in School Counseling and a PPS Credential at Chapman University. Ms. Yaghoubian also holds a Moderate – Severe Educational Specialist and Tier 1 Administrative Services credentials. She was a special education teacher and a counselor in the San Francisco Bay Area for 11 years before moving to Southern California. She joined Redlands Unified School District and taught in what is now called the Behavior Intervention Program. She has worn many hats with RUSD, including ERMHS (Educationally Related Mental Health Services) Counselor, lead on the District Crisis Response Team, Teacher on Assignment, Administrator Designee for all elementary speech only IEPS, Special Services Coordinator and Academic Case Carrier. Ms. Yaghoubian is thrilled to join the team at Mentone Elementary School. She is excited to connect with and support students at the elementary level with hopes to provide a safe environment to build a foundation that will empower and motivate these students to be resilient to any challenges they may face and make all their hopes and dreams come true.

Ms. Pam Crandall
Pam Crandall received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Cognitive Science at the University of California, San Diego. She earned a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling with a School Specialization and PPS Credential at the University of San Diego. Prior to joining Redlands Unified, Ms. Crandall was an elementary counselor for 3 years, and then served for 3 years at the high school level. She is very excited to be back working at the elementary level and loves being at Mentone! Ms. Crandall loves building relationships with our students so she can help them develop new skills to support their social-emotional well-being. She strives to create a safe space for students to express themselves and get support so that they feel empowered to navigate life’s challenges.
