MUSICAL INSTRUMENT BRANDS
Choosing a string instrument is an important undertaking. MAKE SURE YOU ARE BUYING OR RENTING AN INSTRUMENT THAT IS THE RIGHT SIZE FOR YOUR CHILD! (There are no elementary children that should use a full-size violin, viola, or cello.) If the instrument is too big for your child, s/he will not be successful learning to play. Here is a listing of some reputable brands. These are brands that we have found to be reliable when put through use at this age level, and they are reasonably priced. If you encounter another brand that is not on the list, please feel free to contact us for input before you rent or purchase that instrument. Although other acceptable names may be available, some less expensive discount-warehouse-type and off-name brands do not hold up well, have serious flaws in quality, hinder the student progress, and can be a source of great parent frustration when seeking repairs. (An old band director once said, "If the price sounds too good to be true, it probably is!")
Violin/Viola/Cello - Eastman, Glaesel, Klaus Mueller, Muller, Suzuki, Scherl, Strunnel, Roth, Yamaha
